Hyatt properties are one of our favorite to stay in while travelling. Recently, we went down to Chandigarh (read our last travel story) and stayed at the newly opened Hyatt Regency Chandigarh. Read on for the deets!
The mall is conveniently located in the heart of tri-city of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula (we stayed in a beautiful property in Panchkula too. More on that in the next post). The hotel is right next to the very famous Elante Mall. A back-side walking entry to the mall from the hotel makes it very convenient to shop too during the stay.
The moment you enter the hotel, you notice the contemporary design and architecture and a very high ceiling which gives an illusion of an open place. My favorite part is this round staircase right in front of the coffee shop. Hyatt Regency Chandigarh design is inspired by French architect Le Corbusier with a brise-soleil façade.
The Hotel features 211 generously sized guest rooms including 24 suites and one Presidential suite. The rooms feature Le Corbusier design elements including contemporary furniture, inspired artwork and colourful carpets whilst respecting the local Punjabi culture of the area. We really loved the pop of color in each room featuring local arts and crafts like phulkari, ribbons, local emroideries, etc. to add some personality to the rooms.
Each guest room offers either beautiful city green views or of the Shivalik mountain range at the foothills of the Himalayas. All guest rooms are packed with the latest of modern amenities for your business and leisure travel needs.
The hotel also offers services like a fully equipped fitness centre (including a gymnasium and a yoga room) overlooking the pool, the roof-top pool with temperature controlled water, a spa (yet to open) for you to avail of during your stay.
Hyatt Regency Chandigarh also boasts of a modern business centre and the largest event space in the city to cater to the big fat Indian weddings.
We loved the dining options available at the hotel too. The all-day dining multi-cuisine restaurant Urban Cafe offers both buffet and a-la-carte options. Besides delectable cuisine, the restaurant showcases a premium wine selections, a fine whisky bar as well. You can also stop by at Browse, the 24-hour cafe and bakery shop for a relaxed coffee/ tea and bakery selections along with light bites.
At the time of our visit last month, the Italian restaurant Piccante and Stage, the bar were yet to be functional, but going by the decor, both the places look promsing and we cannot wait to go back to experience them.
Overall, we loved our stay at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh to bits! The staff is very warm and courteous and the services rendered of very high standards. If you are heading down to Chandigarh, we highly recommend staying at Hyatt!
