Junkyard Cafe: Review

Hey everyone!

Theme based restaurants have now become a norm in Delhi. Even though everywhere you go, you see a new theme restaurant, but the curious me still gets very excited with a new theme restaurant in town. A few days back, we visited Junkyard Cafe in Connaught Place, and here’s what we thought of it!

So the moment you enter the cafe, you literally enter a Junkyard. There’s recycled scrap all around you, thoughtfully arranged to create great ambience. From a few thousand beer bottles for ceiling to an actual scrap plane hanging on one side, from vintage cheese graters to old buckets, they have it all!

Coming to the food and drinks, we really enjoyed the presentation. Food that looks interesting to the eyes instantly grabs your attention. Some of the drinks they serve with liquid nitrogen (like the one below), some in wooden glasses and one of them even came in a glass skull 😛 The drinks all tasted well!

Fattoush salad

The Fattoush salad that we tried tasted nice and fresh, and I’d love to try it again. For starters, we had stuff from various different cuisines such as Bhatti ka Murgh Tikka, falafel-hummus and pita, mustard fish tikka, etc. The food tasted nice too, and my favorite from the lot were the bhatti ka murgh tikka.

The spicy onion rings they serve come coated with aloo bhujia, which made the onion rings quite crispy and added a little bit of extra flavor. The nachos were really good too.

I also really liked the five spice chicken. The Chello kabab was something new for me. Chello kabab or Chelow kabab is the national dish of Iran, typically consisting of saffron rice topped with kebabs, and comes with salad on the side. This was my most favorite dish of the lot, with it’s subtle flavor and fragrance. Must-try!

We finished off our meal with some cheesecakes! Who doesn’t love cheesecakes!

Overall, if you love being in a fun environment with some nice food and drinks, head over to Junkyard! It’s pretty cool!
