Whenever a restaurant that I love launches a new menu, I cannot wait to try it. My mind is always curious about how things must have changed from the already nice menu, and it is always an iteresting to review a restaurant from a fresh perspective. Kitchen District, or KD as they call it, at Hyatt Regency
Gurgaon Gurugram has come up with a new menu recently (read our last review here). Add to the new menu their regular food festivals/ promotions wherein they focus on specific food ingredients for a given time and you are in for an amazing treat for your taste buds.
We recently went down for the new menu and ‘Pineapple Week‘ promotions they were doing, and the fact that we weren’t able to wrap our head around pineapple being present in all the dishes when we started off got us really curious. Here’s what we thought of it.
Our 4-course meal started off with a pineapple and tofu salad which is just what you’d need on a hot summer day. A light salad with the softest tofu, crunchy pineapple chunks and bean sprouts, snow peas and cherry tomatoes drizzled with a lemon-chili dressing is our idea of the perfect salad for this season. Such a refreshing start to the meal.
Next came the chilled pineapple soup. Now, you may be confused here coz pineapple is not a main-stream ingredient for a soup. We were surprised too. But this chilled pineapple and coconut milk soup served with mango mousse was such a pleasant surprise for the taste buds. The flavors exploded in our mouth and the fact that the soup is chilled is another bonus for this season. The theatrics of pouring the soup into the serving dish in front of you will delight you too!
Next up was something which we had never even imagined- a pineapple and ricotta ravioli. When we heard the name, we assumed that the ravioli will come stuffed with a pineapple and ricotta cheese filling, but my oh my we were proved wrong. The ravioli itself was a thin slice pf pineapple, stuffed with ricotta cheese. Now this is taking innovation to another level. It tasted amazing too! The spicy beetroot puree on top gave a nice reddish tint to the dish as we dug into it and added just the right amount of heat to the dish.
Our meal ended with a delish Pineapple Carpaccio served with a pina colada emulsion and vanilla ice cream.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the new menu and the fact that Kitchen District also focuses on and highlights food ingredients in their promotions from time to time. Do give them a try!
