The 21 year old iconic Italian restaurant, La Piazza at Hyatt Regency, Delhi has recently added some new dishes to their menu, taking inspiration from Milan & Rome, especially crafted by Chef Luca. So get ready to take a trip down to Milan & Rome with the new menu. Read our review below 🙂
The meal kick-started with Antipasto di Affumicati, a smoked fish platter with hot and cold smoked salmon, mackerel, capers, onion salad, and what I’d call the most ravishing lemon sorbet ever! Next up was Cento sfoglie alle pere e caprino– a delicate dish with pears and goat cheese mille feuille, served with a honey-mustard drizzling and pomegranate. Everything in this dish was just so delicate!!
The antipasti really set the bar very high for the rest of the evening. And can someone please pass me a whole bowl of that lemon sorbet?! 😀
Moving on to the pastas, being an ardent fan of ravioli, I was happy to have Ravioli con taleggio, menta e salsa al pepe nero, basically mint ravioli in tallegio and black pepper sauce, with the ravioli done really well. Risotto al curry verde e gamberi- a lovely green curry risotto with a huge jumbo prawn sitting on top. Both these dishes tasted exceptionally well.
The highlight of the evening was Tagliata di tonno ai carboni– black pepper flavored smoked tuna, served on a bed of smoked log of wood, with misticanza salad on the side. Not only was the presentation quite unique, the flavor was spot-on too. The black pepper crust on top of the pink tuna made the dish taste very delicious! Polpette di anatra con pepperoni e fagiolini- spicy and slightly tangy duck meatballs with peppers and beans in black vinegar- done excellently well.
The meals at La Piazza are best enjoyed with their large collection of the best of wines from around the world!
For desserts, we tried the refreshing Sicilian Cassatta, with each and every element done well. All of us have a lot of memories attached with Cassatta that we have been having from the neighborhood ice-cream vendor since childhood, but this was very different because it was freshly made in-house. I’m never going back to the regular cassattas now!
One cannot imagine wrapping up an Italian meal without the classic Tiramisu, which again was excellent.
By now, you may already know that the food had us smitten. My personal favorites were the Antipasti fish platter, smoked tuna, ravioli and cassatta. Do visit La Piazza soon to enjoy the new menu if you love Italian food! You won’t be disappointed.
