The Lalit Mangar: Staycation review

Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury! ~ Coco Chanel

So a few weeks back, our quest for luxury took us to the newly opened The Lalit Mangar, situated in the heart of Mangar village in Haryana, just around Delhi.. The property is super close to Delhi, and offers an unimaginable view of the Aravali hills, something which is totally unheard of in the Delhi-NCR area. Read on for our full take on this beauty!

The property

The moment you enter the property, you know you’ve stepped in for some peaceful luxury! The place is very calm in itself, and the grandeur of the property only adds to the serenity.

Also found roaming about the lawns is their brand ambassador- Spottie! The story behind a pair of deers being the brand ambassador is that when the construction of the property just started, a pair of deer started visiting the property frequently. The male deer is now no more, but the female of the pair still frequents the property, and can be found soaking in the sun during the afternoon.

Spottie!

In terms of construction, The Lalit Mangar boasts of rammed earth architecture- a pioneer in the country in introducing walls made of rammed earth which help keep the rooms weather, temperature and mosquito proof! Each wall has a different look, and lends uniqueness to each and every room! The rooms are arranged in a linear fashion, each one facing the Aravali mountains so you can sip your morningcoffee in the balcony ovelooking the mountains!

Apart from enjoying the magnificent view, you can also indulge in activities like star gazing, cycling, gymming and pottery to keep yourself engaged. I really like the idea of having such activities inside the premises- helps so much when you have kids travelling with you!

The rooms!

Keeping in line with the theme of the property, the rooms are all HUGE and luxurious! The rammed earth walls lend a unique feel to the rooms, keeping it all very earthy and calming.  The balcony with the mountain view is probably that one area where you will be spending most of your time!

The bathrooms also offer you a view of the mountains, if you may fancy čśŤ What I really liked was the attention to detail in terms of the toiletries- separate baskets for men and women with all necessary utilities!

The food

The food at the ‘Dining Room’ at The Lalit Mangar is to die for! They ‘serve what they grow’, and the food leans towards healthy, organic and generally being nutritious apart from being delicious. We tried a couple of dishes from the a-la-carte menu, and each one was to die for. From the Ceasar’s salad to the soups and galouti kebabs to jumbo prawns, each dish was too good. Don’t miss the tiramisu!

Overall, we had a great stay at The Lalit Mangar, and would love to go back there for quick, relaxing weekend getaways just an hour’s drive from Delhi.. The staff is warm and very friendly, the property is great and the food is amazing. Highly recommended!
