The Project at Park Balluchi, HKV is the newest ‘IT’ food place in town, and has been gathering lots of buzz around it on social media ever since it launched a few days back. Located in the heart of Hauz Khas Village inside the deer park, The Project is THE place for you if you don’t like waiting in queues at the regular places in HKV. Read on for a full review!
The decor/ ambience
Spread over a vast area inside the deer park, The Project has both indoor and outdoor seating, surrounded by lush greens on all sides. On one side outdoors (see pic below), you are separated from the deer seated next to you while you are having your meal/ drinks by just a wall of glass. There are very few restaurants in Delhi which offer such a ‘close-to-nature’ feel.
I happened to try their already famous Litchi and kaffir cooler, and the Orange and basil cooler– both the drinks were well balanced. The Litchi and kaffir cooler was a personal favorite. I did not try the cocktails this time.
The fun place mats cannot be missed! 😛
Apple and pear salad offered quite a good start to the meal!
Garlic flavored cheese stuffed mushrooms were quite a favorite with me. I also quite enjoyed the chicken shawarma– served as separates- the soft and fluffy pita and the hummus were well done, and the chicken was seasoned and cooked well too. Chicken wings had just the right amount of crunch on the outside and juiciness on the inside. Mozzarella bombs were good, but their size could be smaller to make them more bite-sized, so as to easily nibble on them with drinks. But the good thing was that the batter used to coat the cheese didn’t leave that powdery feeling in the mouth. I’m not a fan of bitter gourd, so I anyways found the Lazeez Karela a little too bitter for my taste, but the spinach and pea stuffing inside was something new to me, so I did end up eating some of the ‘karela‘ and was quite surprised with the taste. The Murg Potli was overall a tad bit dry for my liking, and didn’t come on a sword, as in the menu 😛
The rocket and proscuitto pizza that I tried had a nice flavor. The chicken and shrimp fettuccine was delicately flavored, and I liked the mix of chicken and shrimp in one dish. Butternut squash ravioli was one of my favorite dishes from the menu– very well done- right amount of seasoning, right thickness of the pasta sheet, packed with flavor, and the roasted walnuts really brought the whole dish together. Do try this when you go there! Sea food risotto was a good one too, but I had my heart on the ravioli by now!
And I must mention here that the Indian dishes were surprisingly very nice. The methi chicken was packed with flavor and had a rich creamy consistency, and the Kandhari Roghan Josh was just too good! Cooked and seasoned to perfection, and one of the best I’ve had!
The burgers were shown above just for you to feast your eyes on. I could not try them coz I was already quite full by the time the main course arrived 😛
From the three I tried, I liked the coconut pannacotta the most! Would have loved some more creativity with the dessert plating though. I really wanted to try their Nutella and banana pizza for dessert, but was way too full to be able to relish that sinful combination, so left that for the next visit.
Was a little slow on the day we went there. Can be worked upon 🙂
I would recommend you to visit The Project by Park Balluchi mostly during the evenings for a couple of drinks and food amidst lush greenery with your gang, while some deer accompany you too! It is a cool place to hang out in, with some amazing crowd!
My top recommendations (from what I tried) include the Litchi and Kaffir cooler, chicken shawarma, garlic stuffed mushrooms, butternut squash ravioli, kandhari roghan josh and coconut pannacotta.
